This has to be without a doubt the worst product I have ever purchased in my entire life. How it is that a company can screw up something as simple and as universal as a cup is beyond all comprehension. This just goes to show what can happen when a good idea is poorly thought out and horribly executed. About the only good things I can say about the Copco Acadia cup is that it looks great (everyone will think you're holding a cup from Starbucks), and that I didn't pay full price for it (I bought it on sale... thank God, because I would HATE to have been duped into paying full price for this)

I purchased my Copco Acadia cup a while back and I was initially impressed with the sturdiness with which the lid held itself to the cup. When I got it home, I immediately poured some water into the cup, secured the lid, and checked for leaks. None were found; I was happy. But my problems with this product started after the first cup of hot coffee when I noticed the lid would no longer fit properly over the top of the cup. As a result it wouldn't seal properly and was easy to twist past it's "stop". I deduced that when hot liquid was poured into the cup, the inferior quality plastic warped, virtually eliminating the "sealing" that was intended by the product's creators.

But, I liked the way the cup looked and I needed something to carry my coffee with me in to work every morning, so I just grit my teeth and got on with it. Well, after countless incidences of spilled coffee on freshly cleaned and pressed shirts and a thoroughly stained cup holder in my brand new car, I've learned the only way to use this cup is WITHOUT the lid... which pretty much makes it useless as a "To-Go" travel mug; as far as I'm concerned the lid is purely decorative. In fact just today, while attempting to place the cup into my vehicle's cup holder, the cup slipped from it's lid (which is what I was holding on to...silly me) and proceeded to spill it's contents all over the passenger seat of my new car. Of course, a properly designed and engineered plastic cup wouldn't have done this, but hey, I guess you get what you pay for... even in the case of landfill.

My advice for anyone looking to purchase this product: LOOK ELSEWHERE. There are a myriad of ecologically friendly coffee cup options available on the market, all of which I'm certain are far better thought out and executed than this Copco product. If you care about the environment - or just want to get your money's worth - then send a message to companies which insist on producing low-grade products and instead purchase from reputable companies who produce a good quality product that you'll be happy to use for many years.

I love the Copco Cup. I've had mine for about two years now and I just ordered a second. They are sturdy and as a bonus can go straight in the microwave. The lid can be a little picky, but as an adult it's as simple as putting the lid down and screwing it on tight. A child might have an issue, but then again the hole in the lid would create a mess for children too. My other cups cannot go in the dishwasher which is super irritating, but this cup cleans up in a snap and does not hold on to smells from coffee, tea or cocoa.

Bought this on the strength of a friend review. Just finished cleaning up a 16-oz coffee spill at my desk at work due to this bloody thing not sealing properly. I was cleaning the lid off with a paper towel when it slipped sideways onto its side. What should have been a minor spill out the small holes in the top turned immediately into a disaster when the top simply popped off. It's now in the trash beside me, along with a roll of paper towels, a mouse and keyboard combo, and my dignity.

I would rather use the paper cup this hunk of plastic represents than deal with its non-sealing lid issues ever again. This is one customer going back to the traditional aluminum thermoses.
